Zakat Calculator

Enter values in Pakistani Rupees for what you own and what you owe. The calculator applies the standard 2.5% rate on your net qualifying wealth, above the Nisab threshold.

Current gold Nisab: 87.48 g · Silver Nisab: 612.36 g. We use the silver Nisab by default (lower threshold), following the majority Hanafi position in Pakistan.

All calculations are done in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Enter your values and click Calculate. This is an estimate — for edge cases (agricultural produce, livestock, mixed-year assets) consult a scholar.

Once you know the amount

Give it through our dedicated Zakat account.

We hold Zakat separately from general donations. It is disbursed only to eligible mustahiqeen — mainly through our ration program and cash assistance to widows, orphans, and families of the chronically ill.

Where your Zakat goes

  • Ration for widows and disabled-headed households — the largest single use.
  • Cash assistance to families of the chronically ill or bedridden.
  • School fees and uniforms for children of Zakat-eligible families.
  • Debt relief for eligible individuals stuck in cycles of small-loan debt.

We do not use Zakat funds for administrative costs, salaries, or general campaigns — those are paid from general donations.

The basics

Zakat, in plain terms

What is Zakat?

Zakat is the third pillar of Islam — a mandatory annual charity on qualifying wealth held for a full lunar year (hawl). The rate is 2.5% (or 1/40th) of your net Zakatable assets above the Nisab threshold.

What is Nisab, and why does it matter?

Nisab is the minimum wealth threshold. If your net Zakatable assets are below Nisab, no Zakat is due. The two standards are:

  • Gold: 87.48 grams (7.5 tola)
  • Silver: 612.36 grams (52.5 tola)

Most scholars in Pakistan recommend the silver Nisab as the reference — it is lower in modern currency terms, so more people qualify to pay and, importantly, more people qualify to receive.

What is Zakatable?

Cash and bank balances, gold and silver, business inventory and receivables, investments held for growth (shares, mutual funds, savings certificates), and property held for resale.

Not Zakatable: your primary residence, your personal vehicle, household items and clothing you use, and tools of your trade.

Who can receive Zakat?

The Qur'an (Surah At-Tawbah 9:60) lists eight categories: the poor (fuqara), the needy (masakeen), Zakat administrators, those whose hearts are being reconciled, freeing captives, the debt-ridden (gharimeen), in the cause of Allah, and stranded travellers (ibn as-sabeel).

Can I give Zakat in Ramzan only, or year-round?

Zakat becomes due once your wealth has been above Nisab for one lunar year. Many people time this to Ramzan for the extra reward and convenience, but Zakat can be paid any time in the year on the anniversary of the wealth crossing Nisab.

Is Zakat the same as Sadqah?

No. Zakat is obligatory (fardh) with fixed rules, rates, and eligible recipients. Sadqah is voluntary charity — any amount, any time, for any good cause. Both are encouraged; only Zakat is required.

How do you certify Zakat eligibility of the beneficiaries?

Every family we support with Zakat funds is visited before enrolment. Our field team checks the household's income, dependents, and existing support. Only families below the Nisab threshold (adjusted for household size) are enrolled on the Zakat list. We keep this list separate from general beneficiaries.
